Roberto is an avid fisherman and was a Sportswriter and Reporter at the Hartford Courant for 18 years. He then worked as a freelance journalist for the Associated Press for about three years. After his journalism career, he earned his Masters Degree in Education, and became certified in Social Studies. He joined CTRA in its inaugural year in 2010, where he is now an Intervention Specialist working with special education students. He also established a fishing club at the school, which meets three times a week on the Connecticut River. In 2012, he spent seven days sailing on the Half Moon, which is a replica of the 17th century Dutch Ship sailed by Henry Hudson. Roberto sailed with the Half Moon crew, two CTRA educators and 12 students, traveling up the Connecticut River and studying its various habitats.
