Alicea is the Lower River Steward for the Connecticut River Watershed Council, a non-profit that works in all four states in the watershed to conserve and protect the Connecticut River and its watershed. Her work at CRWC ranges from advocacy to heading up several citizen science programs to recreation and restoration. She also coordinates CRWC's annaul Source to Sea Cleanup. Her environmental work began in grassroots advocacy as a volunteer with Trout Unlimited. In addition to her role at CRWC, she is currently the Chair of the State Council of Trout Unlimited in Connecticut, is the Secretary of the Fisheries Advisory Council and is on the Board of Directors of Rivers Alliance of Connecticut.
